Medical Transportation Across the East Valley: Tempe, Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert

The East Valley has grown into its own medical hub. Twenty years ago, a lot of specialty care meant a drive into central Phoenix. Now there are major hospitals, cancer centers and specialty clinics from Tempe out to Gilbert and beyond.

That’s good news for patients, and it also means East Valley residents are making more trips between cities for care. Here’s a look at how getting around works in each part of our service area.

Tempe

Tempe sits right in the middle of everything, which makes it a common starting point for trips in every direction: west into Phoenix, east to Mesa and Gilbert, or south to Chandler. Tempe St. Luke’s is here, along with a lot of outpatient clinics and dialysis centers along the main corridors.

Traffic around ASU can slow things down on game days and during move-in weeks, so we plan pickups around it.

Mesa

Mesa is the biggest city in the East Valley and home to Banner Desert Medical Center on Dobson Road, along with the medical office buildings around it. Further east, Banner Baywood serves a lot of patients from east Mesa and the surrounding retirement communities.

Mesa also has a large number of 55+ communities and RV resorts, especially busy from fall through spring. If you live in one, it helps to give us your space or lot number and any gate instructions when you book.

Chandler

Chandler Regional Medical Center is one of the main hospitals in the southeast Valley. Chandler also has a growing number of specialty practices and surgery centers, many of them in newer office parks near the Loop 101 and Loop 202.

Gilbert

Gilbert has become a major destination for cancer care. Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center shares a campus with Banner Gateway Medical Center, and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is nearby. Patients come here from all over the East Valley for treatment, often several times a week.

Trips into Phoenix

Plenty of East Valley patients still see specialists in Phoenix: Mayo Clinic Hospital in north Phoenix, Banner University Medical Center near downtown, the Phoenix VA, and others. Those trips usually run on the Loop 202, US 60 or I-10, and timing matters. A morning appointment in north Phoenix from east Mesa can take a lot longer at 7:30 a.m. than at 10.

When we book cross-Valley trips, we build in time for traffic so you’re not watching the clock from the back seat.

What we offer across the East Valley

Local drivers who know the area

Our drivers live and work in the Valley. They know which clinics share a parking lot, which hospital entrance is closest to imaging, and how long it really takes to get from Gilbert to Scottsdale on a weekday afternoon. That local knowledge shows up as fewer wrong turns and more on-time arrivals.
