A message from our founder, Shaun
Some decisions in business are made on spreadsheets. You run the numbers, weigh the risks, and follow the data wherever it leads. But some decisions come from somewhere deeper than that — from a genuine belief that the work you’re doing matters, and that more people deserve access to it.
Moving Saguaro Medical Transport to Phoenix was that kind of decision.
Where It All Started
Tucson will always hold a special place in the story of this company. It’s where the idea took root — where I first saw firsthand how many people were struggling to get to their medical appointments, not because they didn’t want to go, but simply because reliable, compassionate transportation wasn’t available to them.
Missing a dialysis session. Skipping a follow-up because there was no ride. Showing up late to a specialist appointment after waiting an hour for a no-show driver. These weren’t edge cases. They were happening every day, to real people who deserved better.
So we built something better. And Tucson showed us it worked.
Why Phoenix
As Saguaro grew, it became clear that the same gap we’d identified in Tucson existed on a much larger scale in Phoenix — and then some.
Phoenix is one of the largest and fastest-growing cities in the entire country. Its population skews older in many communities. Its geography is sprawling. Its traffic is unforgiving. And its demand for dependable, dignified medical transportation is enormous.
For a company built on the belief that every patient deserves a ride they can count on, Phoenix wasn’t just an opportunity. It felt like an obligation.
What the Move Meant — Honestly
I won’t pretend the transition was seamless. Growing a service-based business into a new market means rebuilding trust from scratch. It means learning new roads, new traffic patterns, new hospital systems, and new communities. It means longer days, more logistics, and a whole lot of problem-solving on the fly.
But it also means more families reached. More appointments kept. More patients who can focus on their health instead of worrying about how they’re going to get there.
Every time I think about the scale of what Phoenix represents — the people we can now serve who simply didn’t have access to this kind of care before — any difficulty in the transition fades into the background.
The Same Heart, a Bigger Stage
What hasn’t changed — and what will never change — is the foundation this company was built on.
Every driver we hire goes through rigorous training. Every vehicle is maintained to the highest standards. Every ride is treated as if the passenger is someone we know personally, because in many cases, they become exactly that. We’ve had passengers who started as a single booking and became part of the Saguaro family over months and years of consistent care.
That relationship-first approach is what made us who we are in Tucson. It’s what we’re bringing to Phoenix — just on a much larger scale.
What’s Next
We’re just getting started in Phoenix, and we’re proud of the ground we’ve already covered. We’re building relationships with healthcare facilities, brokers, and care coordinators across the metro area. We’re expanding our fleet to meet demand. And we’re continuing to do what we’ve always done — show up, on time, with care.
If you’re a patient, caregiver, or healthcare provider in the Phoenix area and you haven’t worked with us yet, I’d love the chance to earn your trust.
This move wasn’t just about growing a business. It was about growing our ability to serve — and that’s a mission I wake up every morning grateful to be part of.
